My Educational Philsophy - Succinctly

My educational philosophy is essentially very simple: I believe in student-centred teaching. I feel that my teaching should meet the needs of my students first, and all other mandates second. That is not to say that government or provincially established expectations are not of equal importance to student needs but if students' learning needs are not being met, it is unlikely that they will be able to meet the expectations set for them by the curriculum. If students are unable to meet expected standards due to learning difficulties or poor preparation by previous instruction, then my teaching must meet the needs of these students and fill in any gaps in the curriculum in order to ensure students are able to meet the expected standards within a reasonable time frame.
