ESQUAMPTON : Do More With Less - the web project

I decided today that for my web design project I am going to create an interactive community resources website. I was inspired by my living environment. Most of the people who live in our building now are in their teens and early twenties, most have children and are on welfare or barely making ends meet. 4 of my close friends are also in similar situations. I have been living on a student budget, and for the past 5 years been raising a family on no money. I feel my experience and skills at survival over the past 15 years are important life skills that young people aren't learning these days.
A number of my friends who are in their late 20s and 30s don't know how to bake from scratch or make crafts and end up spending a lot more money than they need to on everyday luxuries. I also realized that my network of friends contain under-employed experts in a lot of different areas. I have friends who have worked in business, retail, food services, computer technology and who have amazing skills in craft making, gardening, pet care etc.
Since my four closest friends are all currently unemployed I thought a website with them contributing information would be a good way for me to learn new technology and a chance to make a use of all the resources we share between us. I feel that young people today do not learn enough independent life skills or learn how to budget their money. These days too many young people rely on credit an end up with crippling personal debt in addition to student debt and many end up having to declare bankruptcy at a young age when this could seriously impact their ability to buy property and become upwardly mobile into their 30s and 40s.
We can all benefit from recipes, fashion on a budget, technology reviews, self-education, alternative activities for kids in addition to information on free or low-priced community resources. I hope this project will prove to be a success and that it doesn't become too monstrous.
